The University Transfer Program (UTP) Stage I is designed to provide a bridge between high school and university. It will prepare you for university studies. UTP Stage II programs are based on the first year equivalent of the University of Manitoba Bachelor degree program. In choosing to study at ICM, you will be undertaking a UTP Stage II program that is moderated by the University of Manitoba to ensure the highest academic quality. University campus ICM is located on the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus. You will enjoy access to university facilities and services including libraries, computer laboratories, recreation facilities, on-campus accommodation, health services and career services. The University of Manitoba’s teaching rooms are well equipped with audio visual equipment including data projectors and DVD players. In addition to formal academic courses, ICM provides additional learning support – particularly in the areas of English and Mathematics. As well as academic support, ICM provides excellent personal support in a range of services to ensure that you are able to reach your goals. Smaller classes Classes contain an average of only 30 students and are complemented by small group tutorials and workshops. In keeping with our supportive approach, ICM provides more teaching hours per course. This extra academic contact allows you to fully develop your knowledge and understanding of each course. Quality education A quality education is the first step to a successful future. While studying at ICM, you are guaranteed that the highest standards of teaching are maintained at all times as our programs are delivered by qualified instructors and quality assured by the University of Manitoba. Progression to the University of Manitoba ICM offers first year equivalent courses for the University of Manitoba programs in Engineering, Business, Arts and Science. Subject to satisfying university admission deadlines and admission requirements (including an agreed minimum GPA), students will be eligible to transfer to the University of Manitoba after completing 30 credit hours. In the case of entry to the Asper School of Business, current rules require admission requirements to be completed by April of a given year. Students who cannot meet this admission deadline will be permitted to enrol in further courses at ICM (up to a maximum of 60 credit hours) with a view to satisfying the following April deadline. Note that under these circumstances students will be eligible to transfer a maximum of 60 credit hours towards a Bachelor degree program conducted by the university. Students will be individually counselled regarding their course selection to maximize credit transfer entitlements. Admission to the Faculty of Business will be on a competitive basis and subject to quota. Study Permit assistance ICM staff and their representatives will assist you as required to obtain/renew a Study Permit for studies in Canada.
